Basket and Rotor Designs
The best screen cannot operate properly without the right combination of basket and rotor.
The new ID2 and ID3 design is, in particular, the conclusion of in depth research on the interaction between the rotor and the basket. Any of Kadant's new sizings take into account this new knowledge developed during the last few years.
Many parameters, again, are to be taken into account :
- Application (type of fibres, contamination)
- Type of screen and operation
- Position in the process
- Consistencies
- Fractionation effect
- Capacities of the stage downstream (if any)

- Power
- Passing speed
- Reject rate
- Maintenance cost (wear risks and mechanical stress)
Basket design
Kadant has developed a complete range of basket designs, for both holes and fine slots, covering any possible need from stock preparation to approach flow.
The basket designs include the famous RCR concept; a true multi-life basket allowing easy and low cost maintenance. They also include Wedge Wire, pinched bars and plain baskets.
Rotor design
Kadant has a total range exceeding 10 rotor designs, which provides the possibility to cover almost any market need with a suitable solution.
Maintenance and screen retrofits
The maintenance of screens, particularly of baskets and rotors, are among Kadant's priorities.
A new possibility is the screen retrofit with the new ID2 concept in order to :
- Increase the retrofitted screen capacity
- Decrease the slot size
- Increase the operating consistency
- Increase the screening efficiency
